Maryland schools have seen a sharp rise in the number of parents homeschooling. The increase comes as districts announce they’re going all virtual this coming fall.
The number of families choosing to homeschool in Maryland has been steadily growing since 2004. But experts tell Fox45 there’s more growth in homeschooling now, than in the last 15 years combined.
In September, five-year-old, Jake Amodio, of Annapolis, will start kindergarten. But unlike generations of kids before him, Jake won’t be starting school in a regular classroom, or even a virtual one. When Anne Arundel County Schools decided it’s going all virtual this fall, Jillian Amodio, his mother, decided to homeschool.
